語源
「autochthon」は古代ギリシャ語の『autochthōn』に由来し、『autos』は「自己」、『chthōn』は「大地・土」を意味した。
『autochthōn』はラテン語・新ラテン語を経て英語に借用され、学術的・文学的文脈で「土地から生まれた（その土地固有の）人」を意味する語として定着した。
