語源
「atheneum」はラテン語の「Athēnaeum」から来ており、「Athēnai-」は「アテネの／アテネ人の」を意味した。
元はギリシャ語の「Ἀθήναιον（Athēnaion）」（アテネやアテナに関する場所）で、それがラテン語の「Athēnaeum」になり、17–18世紀に英語の「atheneum」として入ってきた。
