語源
「astrographic」はギリシャ語に由来し、とくに結合要素の「astron」と「graphos」から来ており、「astron」は「星」、「graphein/graphos」は「書く・描く」を意味した。
「astrographic」は近代の学術的な形成語として、「astro-」（ギリシャ語の「astron」）と形容詞化要素の「-graphic」（ギリシャ語の「graphos」を経てラテン語・フランス語を経由）を結合して発達し、19世紀に「astrograph」＋「-ic」などの語を通じて天文学分野で英語に入った。
