語源
「aryan」はサンスクリットとアヴェスター語に由来し、とくにサンスクリットのことば'ā́rya'やアヴェスター語の'airya'から来ており、『高貴な』『よい』という意味のもとがある。
19せいきのヨーロッパのげんごがくで、インド＝ヨーロッパごをはなすグループをさすために'adopt'され、そのご19せいきおわりから20せいきはじめにかけて人しゅろんにもちいられ、ナチスの人しゅしゅぎとむすびつけられ、いまではひろくぎろんがあるつかいかたとしてきょひされている。
もともとは『高貴な』を意味し、ぶんか・げんごのグループをさしていたが、じだいをへて『生物学的にすぐれた白人』という人種化された意味に変わり、いまではぎろんのある・しんりがくてきにみとめられないつかいかたとなっている。
