語源
「arch-」はギリシャ語の「arkhós(ἀρχός)」に由来し「長・主要」を意味し、「despot」はギリシャ語の「despotēs(δεσπότης)」に由来して「主人・領主」を意味する。
「archdespot」は英語で接頭辞「arch-」と名詞「despot」を結合して作られた現代英語の派生語で、直接的な古形からの変化というよりは合成語として成立した。
