語源
『araeostyle』はギリシャ語に由来し、特に『araíos』（細い・まばらな）と『stylos』（柱）から成る現代の建築用語である。
『araeostyle』はギリシャ語の結合形 'araeo-'（'araíos' に由来）と 'style'（ギリシャ語 'stylos' がラテン語/フランス語を経て入った語）から近代の建築学的用語として形成され、古典の柱間隔を表す記述語として使われるようになった。
