語源
「arabica」は近代ラテン語の「arabicus」から来ており、もともとは「アラビアの（アラビアに関する）」を意味した。
中世・近代ラテン語の「arabicus」（「アラビアの」を意味）から変化し、植物学ラテン語で種名「Coffea arabica」として用いられ、英語の「arabica」として定着した。
当初は「アラビアの」という意味だったが、やがて特にコーヒーの種（Coffea arabica）とその豆を指す語になった。
