語源
「apocryphist」は英語に由来し、『apocrypha』＋接尾辞『-ist』から形成されている。『apocrypha』はギリシャ語の『apokryphos』（「隠された」を意味）に由来する。
ギリシャ語『apokryphos』はラテン語で『apocrypha』（文字通り「隠された物」）となり、中英語の『apocrypha』を経て、英語では『apocryphist』（偽典に関わる人）という能動名詞が形成された。
