洞の切開
語源
『antrotomy』はギリシャ語の語から起こり、とくに『antron』と『tomē』に由来する。『antron』は「洞、空洞」を意味し、『tomē』は「切ること（切開）」を意味した。
『antrotomy』はラテン語系の New Latin 形『antrotomia』などを経て現代英語の『antrotomy』になった。
当初は「空洞への切開」を意味していたが、次第に『乳突洞や上顎洞などの洞の外科的切開術』という特定の意味で用いられるようになった。
