語源
「anti-feudalist」は、ギリシャ語接頭辞「anti-」（『反対』）と、英語の「feudalist」（中世ラテン語『feodalis』、さらに『feodum』（領地、封土）に由来）を組み合わせた語に由来します。
中世ラテン語の「feodum」から派生して古フランス語の『feodal』などを経て中英語の「feudal」になり、そこから名詞／形容詞の「feudalist」が生まれ、近代英語で接頭辞「anti-」が付いて「anti-feudalist」になりました。
当初は『封土（領地）に関する』という意味に近かったが、やがて封建制度全体を指す語義に拡張し、「anti-feudalist」は『封建制に反対する』という意味になりました。
