語源
「anterevolutional」はラテン語の要素に由来する。ラテン語の 'ante' は「前」、'revolutio'（『回転、転換』の意）に由来する 'revolution' と形容詞接尾辞 '-al'（ラテン語 '-alis'）が結合したもの。
ラテン語の 'ante' とラテン語 'revolutio'（後に古フランス語・中世ラテン語を経て中英語の 'revolution' となった）に現代英語の形容詞接尾辞 '-al' が付いて、稀な複合形容詞 'anterevolutional' が形成された。
もともとは『回転・転換の前』という字義的な意味だったが、現代では主に『（政治的）革命の前の時期に関する』という意味で用いられる。
