語源
「Decalogue（デカローグ）」はギリシャ語の 'dekalogos' に由来し、'deka-' は「10」、'logos' は「言葉・語」を意味した。
『Decalogue』はラテン語の 'Decalogus' を経て、ギリシャ語／ラテン語から中英語を通じて現代英語の 'Decalogue' になった。
当初は聖書の十戒を特定して指したが、やがて10の規則の一揃いや、より一般的に指導原則の簡潔なセットを意味するようになった。
