land of the Armenians
Etymology
'Armenia' originates from Greek and Latin, specifically the word 'Armenia' (Greek: 'Ἀρμενία'), where the root referred to the people or land known to classical authors as the Armenians.
'Armenia' changed from Old Persian 'Armina' (and earlier Iranian forms) and Greek 'Arménia' and eventually became the modern English word 'Armenia' through Latin and Medieval usages.
Initially, it meant 'land or territory of the Armenians' and over time it has continued to denote the same geographic and political entity, now the modern Republic of Armenia.
