語源
「systems-oriented」は現代英語の複合語で、'system'（複数形'systems'）と形容詞化した'orient(ed)'から成る。'system'はギリシャ語'sustēma'がラテン語・フランス語を経て入り、『いくつかの部分から成る全体』を意味した。'orient'の語根はラテン語'oriens'（のぼる、東）に由来する。
「system」はギリシャ語'sustēma'→ラテン語'systema'→英語等を経て取り入れられた。'orient'はラテン語'oriens'→古フランス語'orienter'を経て英語の'orient'および'oriented'になった。'systems-oriented'はこれらを組み合わせた現代英語の造語である。
