「reintroduction」はラテン語の「reintroductionem」に由来し、「re-」は「再び」、「introductionem」は「導入」を意味しました。

「reintroductionem」はフランス語の「réintroduction」に変わり、中英語を経て現代英語の「reintroduction」になりました。

最初は「再び導入すること」を意味し、この意味は現代でもほぼ同じです。
