語源
「prebuttal」は接頭辞「pre-」（ラテン語 'prē-'、意味は「前」）と名詞「rebuttal」（動詞 'rebut'「反駁する」から派生）から成る現代の複合語です。
「rebuttal」は、反撥・退けるを意味する古フランス語を起源とする動詞 'rebut' に由来し、初期近代英語で名詞 'rebuttal' が成立しました。近年、討論や政治の文脈で接頭辞 'pre-' を付けて 'prebuttal' が作られました。
