語源
「parody」はギリシャ語の『parōidía』に由来し、『para-』は「〜のそば（対抗する）」、『ōidē』は「歌」を意味した。
『parōidía』は後期ラテン語の『parodia』になり、古フランス語・中英語の『parodie』を経て現代英語の『parody』になった。
当初は『歌の模倣・対照となる歌』を指したが、次第にあらゆる作品や様式のユーモラス／風刺的な模倣全般を指すようになった。
