語源
『mudfish』は英語に由来し、泥のある生息地に関連する魚を指すために'mud'と'fish'を組み合わせた語である。
'mud'は中英語の'mudde'（または変形）に由来し、'fish'は古英語の'fisc'に由来する。これら二つの要素を結合して近代英語で合成語'mudfish'が成立した。
