語源
『homoiousianism』はギリシャ語の『homoiousios』に由来する。ここで『homoios』は「類似」、『ousia』は「本質」を意味する。
『homoiousios』は教会ラテン語などで『homoiousianismus』のようにラテン化され、最終的に英語の『homoiousianism』になった。
当初は「類似した本質」を意味していたが、次第に4せいきの神学上の特定の教義『ホモイウシアニズム』を指す語になった。
