語源情報
「ethnocentric」はギリシャ語の『ethnos』『kentron』に由来し、『ethnos』は「人々、民族」を、『kentron』は「中心（点）」を意味した。
歴史的変遷
「ethnocentric」は英語の名詞『ethnocentrism』（1906年ごろにWilliam Graham Sumnerが普及させた語）から派生し、そこから形容詞が作られ、さらに副詞『ethnocentrically』が派生した。
意味の変化
