語源
「dissolve」はラテン語の「dissolvere」から来ており、「dis-」は「離れて」を、「solvere」は「解く・離す」を意味した。
「dissolve」は古フランス語の「dissoudre」を経て、中英語の「dissolven」などの形になり、現代英語の「dissolve」になった。
当初は「離してほぐす」を意味したが、次第に「溶かす」「分解する」「（公式に）終了させる」などの現在の意味も持つようになった。
