語源
「bakhtiari」はペルシア語の『Bakhtiyārī』（بختیاری）に由来し、『bakht』は「運・運命」を意味し、『Bakhtiyār』は「運に恵まれた人」を意味した。
『Bakhtiyār』という人名（または語根）から『Bakhtiyārī』という部族名・形容詞形が派生し、それが民族名・方言名・工芸品名として英語に入った。
