語源
『automatize』はギリシャ語の『automatos』に由来し、『auto-』は「自己（じこ）」、「matos」は「自ら動く（自動的に動く）」の意味を持ち、語尾の『-ize』は「～にする」という意味のギリシャ語接尾辞に由来します。
『automatize』はネオラテン形やフランス語の『automatiser』などを経て、最終的に現代英語の動詞『automatize』になりました。
