語源
「autographic」はギリシャ語の語「autographos」から来ており、接頭辞の「auto-」は「自分自身」、語幹の「graphos／graphein」は「書く」を意味した。
「autographos」は後期ラテン語／中世ラテン語の「autographicus」を経て、学術語や技術語として英語の「autographic」になった。
当初は「自分自身で書かれた」という意味で、主な意味は現在もほぼ同じだが、その後比喩的・技術的に「自動記録する」「原本を示す」という意味にも広がった。
