語源
「autoecism」はギリシャ語（近代ラテン語／学術造語を経て）に由来し、特に要素の「autos」と「oikos」から成り、「autos」は「自己」、「oikos」は「家（環境）」を意味します。接尾辞「-ism」は状態や習慣を示します。
「autoecism」は近代ラテン語の学術的語形「autoecismus」などから変化し、19世紀の生物学・寄生虫学の文献で用いられた後、現代英語の「autoecism」になりました。
