語源
「atticist」は「Attic」＋人を表す接尾辞「-ist」から生じ、「Attic」はラテン語の「Atticus」およびギリシア語の「Attikos」から来ており「アッティカ（アテネ周辺の地域）に属する」を意味する。
「atticist」は形容詞「Attic」（ラテン語「Atticus」を経てギリシア語「Attikos」から借用）と接尾辞「-ist」を組み合わせて発展し、アッティカ様式の擁護者を指す語として英語に入った。
