語源
英語の合成語で、'Aryan'（最終的にはサンスクリット語『ārya』に由来し、ドイツ語や19世紀の人種理論を経た人種語）と接尾辞『-ization』（ギリシャ語『-izein』を経たラテン語・フランス語由来で「…にする」の意）から成る。
『aryanization』はナチス期にユダヤ人財産の移転を表すドイツ語名詞『Arisierung』から変化し、同じ政策・現象を指す英語語として採用された。
当初は『アーリア人に関する』『アーリア化する』のような意味合いだったが、1930年代以降は特に人種政策に基づくユダヤ人の財産の組織的没収・移転を意味するようになった。
