語源
「arthromere」はギリシャ語の要素「arthron」と「meros」に由来し、「arthron」は「関節」、「meros」は「部分」を意味した。
「arthromere」はギリシャ語語根をもとに近代の学術用語として形成され、動物学や胚発生学の用語として英語に入った。
もともとは「関節の部分」を文字通り意味していたが、次第に節足動物の体の節や胚の体節を指す語として使われるようになった。
