語源
「apollonic」は古代ギリシャ語の名前「Ἀπόλλων」（アポロン）と形容詞接尾辞「-ικός」から来ており、ラテン語の「-icus」を経由して「〜に関する」を意味する。
中世ラテン語の「Apollonicus／apollonicus」のような形を経て、英語で形容詞化の接尾辞「-ic」を伴い現代英語の「apollonic」になった。
当初は「アポロンに関する（文字どおり、宗教的・神話的）」を意味していたが、次第に「秩序・抑制・調和・理性に特徴づけられる」という比喩的な意味が強くなった。
