語源
『antilogy』はギリシャ語の『ἀντιλογία（antilogía）』に由来し、『anti-』は「反対」を、『logía』（『logos』に由来）は「言葉・理性」を意味した。
『antilogy』はラテン語の『antilogia』を経て英語に入り、最終的に現代英語の『antilogy』となった。
当初は「言葉における反対・対立」を意味したが、時間とともに「矛盾・論理的不一致」という現在の意味に発展した。
