語源
「antifog」は現代英語の語形成で、接頭辞の「anti-」（ギリシャ語の'anti-'がラテン語・フランス語を経て英語に入ったもので「〜に対抗する」の意）と名詞「fog」（古英語／中英語の「fogge」＝霧・水分）を結合している。
「anti-」はギリシャ語由来の生産的な接頭辞として英語に入った。「fog」は中英語の「fogge」に由来し、「ant i- + fog」の複合語は合成コーティングやスプレーが登場した20世紀に一般化した。
