語源
「Enopla」は古代ギリシャ語に由来し、語根は『enoplos』（またはそれに関連する語形）で、『en-/eno-』は「〜の中／〜を備えた」を示し、『hoplon（ὅπλον）』は「武器」を意味し、全体として「武装した（もの）」の意を持つ。
古代ギリシャ語の語根が学術ラテン語・分類学用語として取り入れられ、19〜20世紀の動物分類学で吻に刺針を持つネメルテア類の群名として確立された。
