語源
『Caucasian』はラテン語の『Caucasius』、さらに遡ればギリシャ語の地名『Kaukasis』（コーカサス）に由来します。
『Caucasian』は古典期・中世の地名（ギリシャ語の『Kaukasis』→ラテン語の『Caucasus/Caucasius』）から変化し、英語で『Caucasian』として定着しました。18〜19世紀には人類学で『コーカサス人種』の呼称として拡張された経緯があります。
